So we finally got our first look at “Blade Runner 2049” a few days ago and I will admit it looked really good. Now I saw the first “Blade Runner” when I was younger, too young in fact. I think I was like 15 or something. I thought it was cool looking and had some memorable moments, but it came off as kind of weird, with a story that didn’t really capture my teenage attention.

I saw the movie many years later and it was a surprisingly entertaining film. Being much older I could appreciate the well-crafted science-fiction story it told. It was able to capture a gritty, yet sleek post-apocalyptic setting, and that was the one main thing that this trailer sparked in my memory as I watched it.

I thought this was a great trailer overall and I am really excited to see this film. Not as much out of nostalgia at all, but for the simple fact you have some talented actors, with a can’t miss director, added with an excellent cinematographer. The result should be a compelling post-apocalyptic sci-fi action thriller with the same visually capturing dystopian settings.

There wasn’t a huge sample in this trailer but we get a glimpse of the headliners, and a peek at what the cinematography is going to look like and it made me excited to see this film. It also makes look forward to revisiting the first film once again to catch up with the plot, time-line, and the back-drop of the character Harrison Ford portrayed.

The cast in this one looks great with the likes of; Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Lennie James, Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, and Barkhad Abdi. They should all be able to provide this story-line with solid characters. It will also be interesting to see what kind of chemistry Gosling and Ford can generate, given what their character dynamics will be in the script.

Overall though, this looks like it’s going to be a great film visually. Villeneuve and Deakins are proving to be a strong team and I have no doubt they will be able to craft a visually stunning film, with awesome action that will pull audiences into the world of the film. I just hope the script will be able to hit the same level of quality to pull everything together.
