“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” | Teaser Trailer Thoughts

guardian2posterWhat’s up guys hope you are having a good weekend, if not, it may have gotten better with Marvel just releasing a new trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2” and they are calling it a teaser trailer, but it’s packed with great footage. I’ve watched it a few times, processed my thoughts, so let’s talk about it.

First, I will say this trailer was excellently edited, it gives a solid peek at what the film will look like and a taste of the characters but it doesn’t give away too much about the overall plot the story-line will follow. In a perfect world this would be the final trailer for the movie, but we are certain to get two, or maybe even three more of them before the film is released in May and it’s just the way it is.

The laughs in this film looks like they will be very effective, the chemistry between the cast looks excellent and from what this trailer showed the comedy will come from many different angles. Drax played by Dave Bautista looks to have gotten a much large piece of the comedic responsibility as well from what the first couple peeks at this film have shown us and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can add to the film in regards to comedy.

The special-effects look like they are going to be amazing, and much like Doctor Strange did, this sequel looks like it is going to take audiences on a visual ride filled with many vibrant and colorful backdrops, to house all the large-scale battles and action-sequences, and I can’t wait for it.

I also loved that big nasty beast they are fighting in this clip. It looks like the massive love child of Krang from the Ninja Turtles and that Sarlacc from “Return of the Jedi” and it looks like it’s going to really come to life in IMAX as the crew tries to take it down. I just have to go back to how I liked the trailers information coming in a very vague delivery that doesn’t give too much away.

There was no Kurt Russell sighting and I hope they save him for the actual film. It also didn’t give away what Sylvester Stallone’s input on this movie will be either. I think they gave out some information at Comic-Con however I’m not positive on that. But regardless it doesn’t lay the plot-line out for us and I love that.

This looks like it’s going to be an awesome sequel filled with some big action set-pieces, effective humor, and another strong performance from Chris Pratt as Star Lord. Baby Groot is going be a scene stealer without a doubt and I can hear the cash registers warming up right now for all the toys they are going to sell. The music looks to be well selected once again and I can’t wait to see what this movie will deliver.
