So I was having my morning coffee glancing over some news and emails and what do I see? We finally have the first full trailer for the “War of the Planet of the Apes” and oh my god did it look awesome. From start-to-finish this film looks to deliver one beautifully shot set-piece after the other. The war between the humans and the apes continues and through the imposing narration from Cesar we are reminded that he did not want this war.
The trailer opens to a stunning wide shot of the beach with and the apes have a little girl with them. It switches over to some excellent looking battle sequences in the dense forest. The segment in this trailer make this film look to be a gripping war movie, that will have us on the edge of our seats. The cinematography already looks like it will be amazing, as will the direction.
This trailer also shows the humans have gained power since the last film, the pressure on Cesar to protect his kind is growing more difficult and when the narration of this clip changes over to Woody Harrelson, it only gets better. Harrelson has the potential to do amazing things with this character, he can create a true enemy for Cesar, someone that can surpass Cesar’s power and I am so excited to see what he will bring to this film. This trailer shows some hints that Harrelson has a personal stake in this war and it could revolve around the little girl possibly, and it should ramp up the tension in the main plot immensely.
I loved the first two films in this rebooted franchise and this one in my opinion looks like it could be the best one yet. This film is going to be loaded with stunning imagery as the story evolves and the humans and apes continues to go at war with one another. The things Andy Serkis and CGI have done to create the character of Cesar, are truly amazing and once again he will be like a living breathing character with all the visual emotions needed to deliver the full impact of the story.
Overall I am really looking forward to this movie. Added with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” the summer already has a few great titles to look forward to.
